Environment
Contributing to Environmental Conservation
- Contribute to global environmental conservation by creating a carbon-free and recycling oriented society
The Group maintains a keen awareness of the impact our business activities have on the environment, and our basic policy is to contribute to conservation of the environmental on a global scale by promoting the development of technologies that enhance the productivity of resources and materials. Furthermore, as we execute business, we seek to reduce our environmental impact at every stage of the supply chain.
- For a Decarbonized Society
- We aim reducing own CO2 emissions to 50 percent in fiscal 2030 compared to fiscal 2018 and net-zero CO2 emissions by fiscal 2050 in offices which conduct manufacturing operation.
In response, we promote adoption of renewable energy, LED lights as a replacement of traditional ones, and electric vehicles to our commercial cars.
- Forming of a Recycling-Oriented Society
- We have concluded a comprehensive partnership agreement with Shinshu University, Faculty of Engineering to build a cascade-typed carbon-free society through utilization of Sorghum, an annual grass.
We support social implementation of Sorghum by transforming inedible parts of which to biofuel, and cultivating it to reduce and fix carbon dioxide.

The excellent properties of the major base metal of copper and a variety of minor and precious metals have supported the evolution of electronic devices. The JX Metals Group continues to pursue technical rationality and efficiency, as well as make improvements in product quality and properties of these materials, so we can rapidly offer society products and technologies supporting the coming data society and IoT/AI society.

- Earth-friendly
- The Chemical Products Business Division deals in "NS Clean", an environmentally sound hydrocarbon-based detergent and "Garnet" a mineral abrasive that does not contain any heavy metals and reduces dust generation. We also make a vigorous effort to recycle organic and inorganic wastwater.
- Development of advanced materials
- The Takatsuki plant offers surface finishing chemicals that are customized according to specifications required by leadfreams, printed circuit boards, and other applications. Professional engineers are sent to domestic and overseas customers` places to provide general supports to them.

- Conduct business activities that respect the human rights of all throughout the supply chain, including local community residents, customers, employees, and business partners.
The JX Metals Group sees maintaining sound business practices while respecting the human rights of local residents, customers, employees, business partners and all others involved in the supply chain as a major premise for our continued operation. Based on this belief, we aim to conduct our business with due consideration for human rights, using opportunities like briefings and interviews, and to create a corporate climate where human rights are respected.
- Borderless
- Overseas group companies actively employ local people. We promote institution of global supply chain with respect to local culture and customs.
- Principle regarding conflict minerals
- We do not engage in raw materials trading that contributes to illegal activities in conflict-affected regions or to human rights violations resulting from such activities.
We respect the guidance of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) related to raw materials procurement from conflict-affected areas, and control supply chains in an appropriate manner.

Since the inception of our business at the Hitachi Mine, the JX Metals Group has emphasized the spirit of maintaining good relations with local communities in conducting its business. Keeping alive that spirit today, we have written coexistence and co-prosperity with society into our Code of Conduct. We additionally set an action plan for each fiscal year and work day to day to fulfill it.

It is essential for companies to gain and maintain stakeholder trust to conduct business and increase long-term corporate value in a drastically changing society. The Group promotes strict compliance with laws and risk management to increase the soundness and transparency of management and reinforce governance.
We regularl conduct trainings and 1on1 meeting on compliance to make employees conscious of compliance belief all the time.
We conduct trainings to update understanding for Security Export Control System in Japan, trade rules as well to carry out fair export and import business.
